MUGEN tuning parts now available at the Honda Dealerships across UK

The British division of Honda recently announced that eight of its dealers have just launched the Mugen Original Parts Programme, which comes to supply Honda owners with a range of tuning parts, accessories and merchandise from the company’s engine tuning partner.

The good news is that you’ll soon be able to cherry pick some of those parts for your own Civic and even the CR-Z hybrid because Mugen has struck an agreement to distribute tuning parts through eight Honda dealers in the UK.

The Mugen parts offered by Honda through this program include aluminum wheels, performance brake pads, quick shift kits and sports suspension and the new styling kit for the Civic.

The dealers involved in the programme are:

  • Avonvale Honda (Midlands)
  • Bristol Honda (South West)
  • Inchcape Honda (South East)
  • Brayley Honda (Home Counties)
  • Two Mills Honda (North West)

Colin Whittamore, from MUGEN Euro, said: "We are delighted to be teaming up with some knowledgeable and enthusiastic Honda dealers who will bring MUGEN products to a wider audience. Although MUGEN has been in Japan for over 35 years, we are a relatively new company to the UK market, and outside of motorsport and serious tuning enthusiasts, we may not yet be a household name. Through this programme we are looking forward to attracting new and existing customers to experience why MUGEN has been renowned for many years as a world leader in motorsport."

Parts requiring fitment by Honda dealers are covered by a 12 month/ 10,000 mile warranty, and other accessories are covered by a standard manufacturing defects warranty.

Original MUGEN parts for other Honda models will be introduced over the next 12 months.

Subaru today announced that the Subaru Impreza WRX STI Sedan has become the fastest WRX STI Ever. It recorded a Nurburgring time of 7’55’’00, the fastest lap time ever in a Subaru. The production car goes on sale this summer.

Some of the upgrades received by the 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI sedan include an improved chassis and suspension, and as Makinen commented, the car is controllable and precise even on tricky corners.

The test 2011 Subaru STI Sedan has the same turbo brake calipers, flexible tower bar and front lip spoiler as the R205 model from Japan. The car also has the same Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires and aluminum hood as the 2011 Subaru STI spec C car.

The 2011 Subaru WRX STI is powered by a 305-hp turbocharged/intercooled 4-cylinder Boxer engine and 6-speed manual transmission. It comes with a lowered ride height and new pillow-ball, higher-rate springs for both front and rear suspensions, and spring rates increased by 15.6 percent in front and 53 percent in the rear.

Subaru Releases Test Footage of Advanced Subaru WRX STI Research and Development from Nurburgring, Germany

CHERRY HILL, N.J., June 8 - Subaru today released footage covering advanced research and development carried out at the Nurburgring's racetrack in Germany, using a 2011MY Subaru WRX STI 4-door (sedan) test vehicle. Subaru has been using the famous Nordschleife course since 1992 for advanced R&D as well as tests of the WRX and WRX STI models. The video uploaded on the Subaru Global Site www.subaru-global.com features this year's development work. It is presented as a highlight of Subaru's persistent effort to stretch vehicle performance to unprecedented levels.

The concept of the 2011MY WRX STI is "The Fastest WRX STI Ever." At Subaru, the phrase "Fastest" refers to more than just top speed or maximum engine output. It implies driving with confidence. The WRX STI can be taken to its "fastest ever" performance by providing the driver with total driving control with confidence. Major upgrades to the 2011MY WRX STI focused on the chassis and suspension set-up, and tests at the Nurburgring demonstrated the supreme overall dynamics and linear behavior of the new STI. Tommi Makinen, the legendary four-time World Rally Champion, piloted the test vehicle for the development. He commented, "The car was controllable with precise and faithful handling even on tricky corners. I could easily predict the car's behavior. That is exactly what Subaru is offering, confidence. As a result, the 2011MY WRX STI test vehicle recorded 7'55''00, Subaru's fastest lap time ever, which is 4 seconds faster than the previous fastest time recorded in 2004."

The 2011MY WRX STI 4-door will go on sale world-wide this summer. Upgrades to the 4-door version will be carried over to the 5-door model.

Inden-Design Daihatsu Materia ICECUBE

German tuners Inden-Design is better known for their work on high-priced models from Ferrari and Mercedes.  The company is now branching out a bit, and turning their sites on the sub-€15,000 Daihatsu Materia.

Dubbed “ICECUBE”, the modification kit targets both the optical and the technical areas of the Japanese car. The vehicle wears a body kit consisting of an extension kit that covers 10 body parts (EUR 448), a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser (EUR 448) and a set of daytime running lights (EUR230). The exterior pack is completed by carbon mirror caps, door handles and boot lid (EUR 1,200).

A carbon fiber trim package for the exterior mirrors, door handles and boot lid strip (€1,200), a lowered sport suspension kit from H&R (€780), a sport exhaust system with two polished tail pipes (€1,198) and 18-inch wheels shod in 215/35 tires up front and 225/35 at the back (€5,800) complete the exterior package.

As an option, Inden Design offers a 3-part wheel assembly with high-grade steel outer frames for a hefty price of 5,800 euros. In addition to the superior rims, a high performance sports exhaust system includes a catalytic converter with dual polished tail pipes for an extra 1,198 euros. The next modification in the line up of Daihatsu Materia parts is the H&R-sport helical differential gear, which can be purchased for 780 euros.

By Design offers a wide range of accessories for the interior, including carbon fiber trim package (€ 1.450), Alcantara trim on the dash and column (€ 680), audio system (1,200 €) and navigation / DVD system (€ 1298).

ICECUBE -Daihatsu Materia by Inden-Design

Even if you meet Daihatsu Materia in ordinary traffic rather seldom, the „ICECUBE" by Inden-Design
already has deep roots in the company. If someone is playing with the idea to frequently be truly cool with the delivery of car on the road and the same time to keep with elegance a good figure, he should in this case consider Materia from Haiger more carefully. The Inden-Design Tuner has modified the new „ICECUBE" cars both from the optical and from the technical point of view at the same time. This resulted in the creation of the rough look. The ICECUBE Materia creates a convincing outfit by innovative design and exemplary functionality at a car tuning level.

With its VIP painting in white/mat (5,500 Euro), the Materia gives once again a clearly improved performance and very individual optics. But ICECUBE reaches its dynamical and powerful design due to the body kit. The whole kit consists of an extension set (four extensions (of 10 parts) for 448,00 Euro without mounting and putting at the vehicle), a rear bumper with diffuser (448 Euro) and the standard front bumper fascia equipped with day-drive-lights (230 Euro) in the front turn signal housing. Further identification features are triangular mirrors outside, door handles and a boot lid cover of real carbon (1,200 Euro for the set).

For extra broad wheel distance, special, extra light and home-made wheels have been mounted. In this case Inden Champion LM light metal wheel disks of the 8,5x18 inch size with 215/35 R18 inch in front and 225/35 R18 9,5x18 inch rear tires are holding contact with the road surface. You can exclusively purchase the 3-part wheel assembly equipped with high-grade steel outer frames at Inden-Design for 5,800 Euro.

In addition, the rear end has been equipped with high-grade steel exhaust system and a catalyst converter with two polished end pipes for 1,198 Euro, which produce the corresponding sound for the optics.
The car handling of the „ICECUBE" becomes with H&R-sport helical differential gear (780 Euro) even more sporty. Due to the sport differential gear, maximum traction at all road conditions and therefore, of course, an optimal behavior on the road will also be reached.

But something has been positively changed from within as well. Many options in the interior like triangular mirrors, the central console, the door switch covering, the entrances and the B-column with real carbon in silver (1,450 Euro) are just some of a lot of features, making the life in the ICECUBE sportier. In addition, the speedometer shaft, the A-column and the door armrest have been trimmed with alcantara (680 Euro). There is also a high-quality loudspeaker system (1,200 Euro) with high frequency loudspeaker on front and rear doors - finally, a Phillips DVD-monitor incl. navigation system (1,298 Euro) demonstrates that this baby knows what's what. The sporty pretensions are connected here with individuality, without discarding ordinariness at the same time.
